2019-20 Most Improved Award – Matthew Rempe
Rookie center Matthew Rempe played in 47 games this season and had 12 goals and 19 assists for 31 points.
“Matt is well deserving of this award. He has progressed every year and the improvement he has shown this year has been eye popping. It is also not by accident. He works diligently on his game day in and day out and is extremely hungry to get better. Credit also goes to our coaches, trainers and development staff, in particular Steven Goertzen for closely working with Matt all season. We are excited to watch Matt’s continued development as he works towards his goals,” said T-Birds Head Coach Matt O’Dette.
Rempe was signed by the T-Birds to a WHL Standard Player Agreement on August 28, 2018. Rempe had a good showing at Training Camp after signing with the team. He played the 2018-19 season with the Spruce Grove Saints in the AJHL.
Rempe came to Training Camp in 2019 at a height of 6’8”, three inches taller than he was the previous season. Rempe missed the first 15 games of the season due to injury. In his second game as a T-Bird Rempe scored his first career WHL goal in a game against the Everett Silvertips.
Andy Eide from 710 ESPN Seattle profiled Rempe for a story that was published on January 9.
