2019-20 Defenseman of the Year – Tyrel Bauer

Defenseman Tyrel Bauer played in 60 games this season and had three goals and 14 assists for 17 points.

“I don’t think there are many opposing forwards in the league who get excited to play against Ty. His physical play and competitiveness are stand-out features that embody the T-Bird identity.  I look for him in big situations whether that is preserving a lead 6-on-5 or taking tough matchups against the league’s best players. He takes a very professional approach to the game. He strives for individual improvement daily and shows a maturity beyond his years. This makes him a valuable leader and a huge factor in our success as a team,” said T-Birds Assistant Coach Kyle Hagel.

Bauer was ranked No. 163 in the NHL Central Scouting Midterm Rankings of players eligible for the 2020 NHL Draft.

Bauer had goals in back-to-back games homes games, against the Spokane Chiefs on December 10 and the Tri-City Americans on December 13.

Bauer had two three-game point streaks during the season.
