Stankowski was second round pick in 2015 Bantam Draft
KENT, May 12, 2016 — Seattle Thunderbirds general manager Russ Farwell today announced goalie Carl Stankowski has signed a WHL Standard Player Agreement with the team.
“It’s really exciting to sign with the T-Birds. I was able to visit the team this season and get a feel for the organization and the WHL,” said Stankowski. “The T-Birds are a really great organization. I enjoyed my time visiting and it was a great atmosphere with great coaches.”
“Carl was the top goalie at the Western Canada U16 tournament last fall which allowed him to hold onto his ranking as the top goaltender in his age group. We are excited to have him commit to our team and join us for next season,” said Farwell. “He has the potential to be a top WHL goaltender before long and it will be fun to watch him grow as a player.”
Stankowski was a second round selection, 37th overall, in the 2015 Bantam Draft. In his draft season he played 19 games for the Calgary Northwest Flames. Stankowski had 9-3 record with two shutouts, a 1.88 goals against average and a .920 save percentage.
This past season Stankowski played for the Anaheim Jr. Ducks U16 team. He had a 1.87 goals against average and a .935 save percentage in 16 games with the Ducks. His record was 11-4 with two shutouts.
