Team White Wins Annual Blue White Game

KENT, August 29, 2016 — The Seattle Thunderbirds  Training Camp for the 2016-17 season is currently underway at ShoWare Center in Kent.

Blue White Game Recap
Team White defeated Team Blue 5-1 in the Blue vs White game.

Blue got on the board first to make it 1-0 on a pass from Keegan Kolesar to Cavin Leth.

White answered back to tie it 1-1. Goal was from Cody Savey.

Nolan Volcan extended the White lead 3-1 when he scored five minutes into the third period.

Luke Osterman scored a empty-net goal with a minute left in play to give White the 4-1 lead.

With thirty seconds left in regulation MacKenzie Wight added a second empty-net goal for Team White making it 5-1.

Team Grey defeated Team White 6-3 in the last scrimmage at T-Birds Training Camp Sunday night.

White took a 1-0 lead on a wrist shot from Zack Yewchuk.

Reese Harsch made it 2-0 White when he scored from the right circle.

Isaiah Cockerill cut the White lead to one goal when he scored with 12 minutes left in the scrimmage.

Keegan Kolesar tied the game 2-2 with eight minutes left in the scrimmage.

Alexander True gave Grey a 4-2 lead with two quick goals with just under five minutes left.

Chase Sakic made it a 5-2 lead with a wrist shot goal from the slot.

MacKenzie Wight scored with just over two minutes left to get Team White’s third goal.

Sami Moilanen added an empty-net goal with a second left in the scrimmage for the final Grey goal.

Team Grey came back from a two-goal deficit to beat Team Blue 3-2 in the second scrimmage Sunday evening.

Team Blue went in front 1-0 with nine minutes left in the scrimmage on a goal by Eric Fawkes.

Jarret Tyszka made it 2-0 Blue.

Team Grey cut the Blue lead to one on a goal from Alexander True. True put back a rebound from a Bryan Allbee point shot.

Sami Moilanen passed to True on a shorthanded two-on-one break and True converted to tie the game 2-2.

Moilanen won the game in overtime. Luke Orsmby stole the puck from a Blue defenseman to create a two-on-zero break. Ormsby passed across to Moilanen and he beat the Blue goalie high for the game-winning goal.

Team White beat Team Blue 3-2 in the first scrimmage Sunday evening.

Team White took a 1-0 lead on a goal by Donovan Neuls 15 seconds into the scrimmage.

Team Blue tied the game 1-1 two minutes later on a goal from Nick Holowko. Elijah Brown got the puck from behind the White net to Holowko to the right of the net.

White took the lead back on a goal from Nolan Volcan from the left circle. MacKenzie Wight passed the puck from the right circle to Volcan on a two-on-one break.

White made it a 3-1 lead on a goal from Garan Magnes. Scott Eansor spun in the right circle with the puck, was tripped up but was able to backhand the puck to Magnes in the left circle. Magnes beat the goalie with a quick wrist shot.

Ethan Bear answered right back when he scored from the right circle less than a minute after Magnes’ goal.

Team Grey defeated Team Blue 2-1 in the last scrimmage of Saturday night.

Sami Moilanen scored on a breakaway 12 minutes into the scrimmage to give Grey a 1- lead.

Less than a minute later Alexander True scored for Grey to give them a 2-0 lead.

Luke Osterman cut the Grey lead to one goal when he scored on a scramble to the right of the net with under two minutes in the game.

Team Blue beat Team White 4-1 in the second scrimmage Saturday night.

Cade McNelly gave Team Blue a 1-0 lead early in the scrimmage. Alexander True scored a minute later off a rebound to make it a 2-0 Blue lead.

Ethan Bear made it 3-0 Blue with a slap shot from right circle that beat the White goalie over right shoulder.

Team White got on the scoreboard when Kabir Gill scored on a wrist shot from the left circle.

Alexander True scored an empty-net goal with just over a minute left in the scrimmage.

Team White beat Team Grey 5-2 in the first scrimmage Saturday evening.

Layton Ahac scored 1:50 into scrimmage to give White a 1-0 lead.

Turner Ottenbreit put White in front with a slap shot goal five minutes into the scrimmage.

Tyler Price scores on the power play on a wrist shot from the left circle to give White a 3-0 lead.

Alex Swetlikoff made it a 4-0 White lead with 12 minutes left in the scrimmage.

Grey quickly answered back to get on the board. Chase Sakic made a nice pass from the bottom of the left circle to Keegan Kolesar in the right circle. Kolesar ripped the puck past a diving Ryan Gilchrist.

Scott Eansor scored from a sharp angle with five minutes left in the scrimmage to give White a 5-1 lead.

Sam Huo got Grey’s second goal with just over four minutes in scrimmage. Kolesar dropped the puck for Huo and he scored on a wrist shot.

Team Blue beat Team Grey 3-1 in the last scrimmage of Saturday morning.

Cavin Leth put Blue in front 1-0 on when he scored on a two-on-one break. Leth beat the Grey goalie over the glove.

Leth outraced a Grey defenseman to make it a 2-0 Blue lead. He scored on a wrist shot over the blocker.

Nick Holowko put Blue in front 3-0. He beat the Grey goalie with a hard wrist shot over the blocker from the right circle.

Sami Moilanen scored on a breakaway late in the scrimmage to get Grey the board.

Team White beat Team Grey 2-0 in the second scrimmage Saturday.

Garan Magnes gave Team White a 1-0 lead with 12 minutes left in the scrimmage. He beat Grey goalie Logan Flodell from the left circle.

Tyler Carpendale scored at the five minute mark to give White a 2-0 lead.

Team Blue beat Team White 2-1 in the first scrimmage Saturday morning.

Connor Pyne tipped a Cade McNelly point shot past White goalie Ryan Gilchrist to open the scoring.

Blue took a 2-0 lead with 10 minutes left in the scrimmage when Nakodan Greyeyes tipped a shot past Gilchrist from the left of the net.

White pulled Gilchrist and was able to cut the Blue lead to 2-1 with just over two minutes left in the scrimmage. Scott Eansor attempted a wraparound at the right post. The puck went through the crease to Donovan Neuls at the left post. Neuls put the puck into the net.

Team Blue beat Team White 1-0 in a shootout in the last scrimmage Friday. Ethan Bear and Alexander True scored in the shootout for Blue while Kabir Grill and Donovan Neuls were stopped for White.

Scrimmage 10 Recap
Team Grey beat Team Blue 2-1 in a shootout in the second scrimmage on Friday. Chase Sakic won the seven round shootout with a wrist shot from the low slot.

Luke Ormsby scored with just under 10 minutes left in the scrimmage on a two-o-one break with Sakic. Ormsby elected to shoot and beat goalie Carl Stankowksi over the glove.

Team Blue tied the game 1-1 on a wrist shot from Cavin Leth with three minutes let in the scrimmage. Leth flung the puck on net from center ice above the circles with traffic in front of the goalie. The goalie did not see the puck go into the net.

Team Whit beat Team Grey 3-0 in the first scrimmage Friday.

MacKenzie Wight opened the scoring for Team White eight minutes into the scrimmage. He banged the puck past Logan Flodell at the left post.

Zach Yewchuk scored from the high slot on a wrist shot with under four minutes left in the scrimmage to give White a 2-0 lead.

Garan Magnes scored on a wraparound with 30 seconds left in the scrimmage for White’s third goal.

Team Grey beat Team Blue 5-2 in the championship scrimmage between rookies at the Thunderbirds Training Camp . Nakodan Greyeyes scored two goals in the scrimmage.

Blue took the early lead 1-0 as Dylan Herzog scored in the first two minutes of play.

Grey tied it up 1-1 when Hunter Cloutier sends a nice pass to Tyler Carpendale for the goal.

Grey back on top 2-1 after a nice pass from Sam Huo to Shayde Peterson for the goal.

Blue answered back on a goal from Chase Sakic set up by Elijah Brown.

Greyeyes gave Grey a 3-2 lead on a backhand goal.

Greyeyes scored a second goal shortly after his first on a power play to give Grey a 4-2 lead.

Erik Fawkes set up William Reimer for Grey’s fifth goal of the scrimmage with ten minutes left in the second half to make the final score 5-2.

Team White defeated Team Green 3-0 to take third place among the rookie teams at T-Birds Training Camp.

White took the early lead as Sean Donaldson scores through traffic to make the score 1-0.

White extended their lead 2-0 on a goal by Dillon Hamaliuk 10 minutes into the second half.

Alex Swetlikoff scored to give White a 3-0 lead.

Team Grey beat Team White 5-1 in the second scrimmage on the second day of Training Camp

Team Grey went in front 1-0 on a power-play goal from Eric Fawkes seven minutes into the first half.

Grey made it a 2-0 leads with a few minutes left in the first half on a goal by Tyler Carpendale.

Grey’s Bruce McGregor scored in the last two minutes of the first half to send Grey into the intermission with a3-0 lead.

Sean Donaldson scored on a wrist shot to get White on the board at 3-1.

Grey extended their lead 4-1 on a goal from Nakodan Greyeyes about half way through the second half.

Connor Hart scores Grey’s last goal making the final score 5-1.

Team Green beat Team Blue 3-2 Thursday morning in the first scrimmage on the second day of Training Camp.

Team Green took a 1-0 lead on a goal from Parker Johnstone.

Chase Sakic tied the game 1-1 with five minutes left in the first half.

Ethan Klemen put Green in front 2-1 with three minutes left in the first half. Klemen was to the right of the net and banged in a point shot that came off the end boards.

Blue tied the scrimmage 2-2 with 14 minutes left in the second half. Max Crozier took a point shot that beat the Green goalie.

Cole Dubicki gave Green a 3-2 lead with seven minutes left in the second half. Dubicki put back a rebound from the low slot.

Team Grey beats Team Green 5-1 in the fourth scrimmage of Training Camp.

Grey takes an early lead as Brendan Pigeon scores the first goal about five minutes into the first half.

Shayde Peterson delivers a nice pass to William Reimer which gives Grey an early 2-0 lead.

Green got on the board on a pass from Ethan Klemen to Holden Katzalay which made the score 2-1.

With about ten minutes left in the first half Sam huo scores a goal giving Grey a 3-1 lead going into half.

Grey goes up 4-1 on a pass from William Reimer to Tyler Carpendale for the backhand goal.

Eric Fawkes scores the last goal of the game to give Grey a 5-1 lead with about six minutes left in regulation.

Team Blue wins scrimmage 3 of Training Camp 5-3. Elijah Brown scores in the first four minutes to give blue a quick 1-0 lead.

Dustin Laurenceson scored a goal on a nice pass from Chase Sakic to give Blue a 2-0 lead.

White got on the board on a goal from Jacob Fraser which cut the lead to 2-1.

Blue scores another goal by Cameron Sterling to go in front 3-1.

Alex Swetlikoff bangs in a loose one for White cutting the lead to 3-2.

With about thirty seconds left in the half Cameron Sterling scores one on a redirection giving Blue a 4-2 lead going into half.

Dustin Laurenceson scores his second goal of the game about four minutes into the second half to give Blue a 5-2 lead.

Devita scores a put back goal for White with about two minutes left in regulation.

Scrimmage 2 Recap
Team White came back from a two-goal deficit to defeat Team Green 3-2 in the second scrimmage of Training Camp.

Green took a 1-0 lead with eight minutes to go in the first half on a goal by Parker Jonhstone. Johnstone banged in a rebound of his own shot.

Cody Savey scored on a partial breakaway to give Green a 2-0 lead. Save outraced a White defenseman and beat the White goalie with a backhand over the goalie’s glove.

White got on the board on a goal from Isaiah Cockerill. Dillon Hamaliuk made a nice pass to set up Cockerill.

Alex Swetlikoff tied the game 2-2 with over six minutes left in the scrimmage on a wrist shot from the left circle.

Cockerill scored on the power play with 2:50 left in the scrimmage to give White a 3-2 lead.

Scrimmage 1 Recap
Team Grey won the first scrimmage of Training Camp 3-2 in overtime. Hunter Cloutier scored on the power play 1:33 into overtime to get Blue the win. Eric Fawkes set up Cloutier with a nice cross slot pass from the right circle to Cloutier at the bottom of the left circle.

Bruce MacGregor opened the scoring the goal for Grey in the first half banging in a loose puck to the right of the Blue net. The goal came about 10 minutes into the half.

Blue’s Braden Sanchez scored five minutes into the second half to tie the game 1-1.

Chase Sakic scored for Blue halfway through the half to give Blue a 2-1 lead. Sakic beat the Grey goalie low from the slot.

Grey tied the game 2-2 on a wrist shot from Connor Hart with 12 minutes left in the half. Hart put the shot on goal with traffic in front of the Blue goalie.

Monday, August 29, is the last day of Training Camp and will feature a full 60-minute three period game. The teams will be wearing T-Birds white and blue game jerseys, unlike previous scrimmages which feature team branded practice jerseys. The game starts at 5:30pm at ShoWare Center.

All Training Camp scrimmages and the Blue White game are open to the public free of charge. Fans attending any of the scrimmages or Blue White game should enter ShoWare Center from the east side of the building.

The Thunderbirds will play seven exhibition games prior to the start of the 2016-2017 regular season.

To start the preseason, the T-Birds will play in the Everett Silvertips Holiday Inn Preseason Classic at Xfinity Arena. The first game will be Friday, September 2, at 7:00pm against the Everett Silvertips. Classic play will continue with games on Saturday, September 3, at 3:00pm against the Tri-City Americans. The Classic concludes Sunday, September 4, at 11:30am against the Spokane Chiefs.

The T-Birds next preseason appearance will be in Kennewick at the Red Lion Hotels’ Preseason Tournament at the Toyota Center. The T-Birds will play the Kootenay Ice on Friday, September 9, at 3:00pm and face the Tri-City Americans on Saturday, September 10, at 7:05pm

The T-Birds will conclude their preseason schedule with a home-and-home series against the Silvertips. The T-Birds host the Silvertips on Friday, September 16, at 7:35pm at ShoWare Center and then are in Everett on Saturday, September 17 at 7:05pm.

The T-Birds open the 2016-17 season in Portland against the Winterhawks on Saturday, September 24, at 7:00pm.

The T-Birds home opener for the 2016-17 season is Saturday, October 1, against the Portland Winterhawks at 7:05pm at ShoWare Center.

T-Birds single game tickets for the 2016-17 season will go on sale Wednesday, August 31, at 10am. Fans will be able to purchase single game tickets online or at the ShoWare Center box office.
